Designed for actors and non-actors alike, the Acting Company has been Ottawa’s leading acting school since 2013. Whether you are already an actor and looking to increase your skill set or you’re interested in obtaining some of the many by-products that comes with studying acting, we have the course for you.
Our acting classes encourage spontaneity, foster entertaining, human and compelling behaviour, help you to become more imaginative,
responsive and alive.
Beginning this Fall, the AC has partnered with the Glebe Neighbourhood Group - just up the street from our old studio. The AC remains an independent school, but is excited to be utilizing their wonderful facility for classes.
Also new, when students register for an AC class on our site, they will do so via GNAG's excellent registration system called Amelia. We look forward to seeing you this fall!
Whether you are serious about becoming an actor or simply wish to try something new and creative, you will find this course fun, social and rewarding! Discover the craft in a lively, fun and supportive atmosphere. Ideal for those with little or no acting experience, the course provides participants the opportunity explore acting in a fun & practical way. Everything from acting and auditioning techniques, scene study, improv and character development and the business of acting is covered.
Ready to take your acting to the next level? In this course, you will gain valuable tools to create imaginative characters and give amazing performances. As a professional actor and acting instructor, Chris Ralph has a deep knowledge and a passion for both the classic and the most up to date acting techniques. Every week there will be a new exercise, tailored to meet a particular acting challenge. Acting 2 will give you the skills to ace any audition and help you navigate this business!
Thursdays,October 31st - December 12th
This course is for students who are interested in a more in-depth exploration of character and text. Using scenes from some of the world's best contemporary plays, you will learn how an actor prepares for rehearsal, how to recognize and understand the action of a scene, and how to develop character for a more layered performance. Expect to be up on your feet working on scenes right away and receiving useful feedback every class.

Chris is the co-Founder and Artistic Director of the Acting Company and has taught acting and voice at York University, University of Ottawa.
He is a graduate the National Theatre School of Canada and has an
MFA in Acting from York University.
Recent acting credits include roles in The Virgin Trial (GCTC); Up to Low (NAC); Half Life (Theatre Northwest); A Christmas Carol (NAC); Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike (Plosive Productions); The Amorous Servant (Odyssey); Glengarry Glen Ross (Avalon Productions – Capital Critics Award for Best Production); Billy Bishop Goes to War (Plosive Productions – Capital Critics Best Actor nomination); The Game of Love and Death (Odyssey);
